Linda Wong, who lives and works in Brooklyn, founded Canopy Verde in 2008 after searching for a well-designed bag and not finding much on the market. Part of her inspiration comes from growing up in a frugal Chinese household where nothing was wasted.
It also comes from a love of mid-century Danish design and the practical bag needs of a multi-tasking mom. In sourcing and manufacturing, Canopy Verde thinks carefully about how to generate less waste, what materials leave the smallest footprint, and how to keep each bag beautiful and affordable.
Canopy Verde says its bags use organic cotton and dyes certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), with a PVC-free polyurethane vegan leather trim, wood details and a pop of orange inside. Linda says the brand is not about the next trendy "it" bag, but about something classic and well designed that lasts season after season, and her shop has been named an Etsy Design Awards finalist.
