In Austin, Texas, Michelle Simmons, the founder of Slow North, set out with a simple goal: to create a healthier home for her growing family. Everything changed in 2015 with the birth of her first son, and when she could not find candles she trusted, she started making her own.

What started as a side project in her backyard grew into a business making essential oil candles, and Slow North says its candles are made with no synthetic fragrances. The line has since grown to include wellness goods like heated neck wraps and weighted eye masks.

Today Slow North has a retail shop in Austin, where the team teaches candle making workshops. Its mission is to inspire and support a mindful, balanced and more intentional way of living.
