In the traditional art of tatreez, every thread carries the weight of heritage and the hope of tomorrow. The artisans behind Darzah are women from the West Bank, and Darzah says every product is handmade in Palestine, with each piece embroidered by hand in tatreez, a Palestinian art form passed down through centuries of women. Darzah means stitch in Arabic.
Each stitch represents more than decoration. As a Fair Trade certified brand, Darzah is committed to fair wages and working conditions, and it gives women job opportunities, training and a fair income. Darzah works with skilled shoe and bag makers in Al Khalil, also known as Hebron, to design its products, and its leather comes from a family run leather manufacturer in the Al Khalil region.
Darzah is a non profit project of Child's Cup Full, an initiative based in the village of Zababdeh in the northern West Bank. Darzah's goal is to celebrate and preserve Palestinian heritage, and every purchase supports artisan salaries, employment programs and job training in the West Bank.
