In a restaurant kitchen, Ellen Bennett saw the need for an apron that worked better and looked better, both at once. Half English and half Mexican, she founded Hedley & Bennett, and her old crew at Baco Mercat placed the very first order. Since 2012, it has worked to make the hardest working, best looking aprons and kitchen gear, built to last.

What started as one kitchen's need became a mission to inspire creativity and confidence in the kitchen. Each apron is developed hand in hand with talented, obsessive chefs and refined again and again, so it serves as well for service for 200 as for dinner for two. From its earliest days befriending chefs at farmers markets in Los Angeles, Hedley & Bennett has built a community of chefs and home cooks, bakers and pitmasters.

Hedley & Bennett believes better gear can make you a better cook. Thirteen pairs of hands touch every apron it makes, and it works only with producers who value quality as much as it does.

Each item ships directly from the maker’s workshop or studio. You may receive multiple packages, each crafted and packed by the artisans themselves.

We want you to love what you ordered, but we understand returns happen. Most items can be returned within 30 days if unused and in original condition. Some makers have unique return policies, which we honor respectfully.
