When founder Andrea Sands chose a commercial sunscreen labeled safe for babies over 6 months for her 6 month old daughter, her daughter's skin looked sunburned that evening, with an itchy rash that turned out to be a reaction to the sunscreen itself. That experience led Andrea to develop a mineral based sunscreen and start Laguna Herbals.

Andrea is an herbalist certified in the didactic, therapeutic and field work of herbalism, and she has studied under leaders in the field, including Rosemary Gladstar. Her research and study span the last 20 years, and every Laguna Herbals product is formulated by a team of herbalists.
